PMT Transitions Total Ownership to CEO Charles S. Sholtis September 27, 2013

EL PASO, TEXAS— The ownership of El Paso-based injection molding plant Plastic Molding Technology Inc. has changed hands over the summer, with CEO Charles A. Sholtis taking over as sole owner of the company.

After much consideration, Charles E. Sholtis, chairman and chief technology officer, entered retirement to begin the next phase of his life after dedicating much of it to the business.

Charles E.’s vision was to run a business that supports the community, and his vision grew into a successful enterprise. After founding PMT, he continued to build a leading engineering and design team and instilling the company’s strong solutions-driven approach and cohesive project management processes.

The business has been family-owned for the past four decades. Charles E. whittled the beginnings of what would become PMT in 1973 in Bridgeport, Conn. with one molding press and rented space in an old 1800s mill.

The company eventually outgrew the mill space, and in 1988 the 16,000-saqure-foot facility opened in Seymour, Conn. After competing in the Connecticut manufacturing market for 31 years, the decision was made to consolidate all operations to El Paso, Texas. PMT entered the Borderplex market with a 12,000-squre-foot satellite facility, and moved to the current location near the modern Yselta port of entry in 2004.

PMT expanded from 40,000 to 60,000 square feet in 2009, and is on the cutting-edge of technology with the IQMS ERP system implemented plant-wide and $1.1 million in new equipment added in 2011. The plant runs 56 molding presses, including 18 efficient, all-electric presses. The company also actively addresses the growing national concern about sustainability in the manufacturing sector by taking part in recycling, Lean and Clean programs and implementing factory changes in response to energy usage assessments.

“Taking the helm of Plastic Molding Technology Inc. is both a privilege and a great responsibility,” Sholtis said. “I am dedicated to continuing our future success.”

“The seeds planted in the previous years are now bearing fruit– these are the rewards of our endless hours of labor,” Sholtis said. “We will carry on the passion for professional manufacturing that Charles Sr. began many years ago.”

“I believe 2012 was a terrific start for many of our programs, and I look forward to more success in our future endeavors,” he said.

The shift in ownership signals a continuation of the positive growth PMT has seen over the past few years. Clients can continue to expect the elevated level of customer service that won the company Plastic News’ 2013 Award for Excellence in Customer Relations.

“Our unwavering success in customer service excellence, development of new business, energy efficiency and training has proven our value in the industry,” Sholtis said.
