Sales Engineer

Job Summary

PMT, a leader in the design and manufacture of custom injection molded plastic products since 1973, is looking for a Sales Engineer to join our team. This position develops new business in the continually progressing field of plastic injection molding and manufacturing. The Sales Engineer has technical, field-related knowledge, is great with interpersonal communications and is business-savvy. PMT’s Sales Engineers support the marketing, sales estimating and design engineering process, working within multi-discipline project teams to grow sales in key industry segments.

This position requires travel and a desire to work in an innovative team environment.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Develop new business to support Sales Department and win projects
  • Identify current and future customer opportunities by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual clients
  • Establish new accounts by identifying potential customers; plan and organize the sales call schedule
  • Prepare cost estimates by studying blueprints, plans and related customer documents; and by consulting with engineers and other professional technical team members
  • Determine areas for improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios regarding equipment, materials and services
  • Gain customer acceptance by explaining and demonstrating cost-reductions and operational improvements
  • Prepare sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing sales information and engineering trends
  • Provide customer presentations and proposals
  • Prepare quote responses to clients
  • Have a familiarity with the injection molding process, molds, machinery and secondary operations
  • Improve designs of existing products for manufacturability
  • Complete detailed 3-D designs/renderings/product drawings
  • Coordinateprototype tooling procurement with outside tooling vendors

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree (Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred)
  • 4+ years of experience in product estimating or Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in plastics product engineering and/or mold design a plus
  • Knowledge of injection molding processes preferred
  • Strong 3-D design & CAD knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of plastic production design and processing
  • Must have proven ability to juggle multiple projects, make quick decisions and possess excellent problem solving skills
  • Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Proficent in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
