Quality Engineer

Job Summary

PMT’s Quality Engineer provides quality assurance support and ensures manufactured products meet customer and PMT quality requirements. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this position ensures compliance with PMT’s Quality Management System and manages the scrap reduction program, including root cause investigation and corrective actions implementation.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Performs root cause analysis and implements corrective actions for process-related concerns
  • Assists the Quality Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System
  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5-S, Kaizen, lean methods, etc.
  • Develops training to build quality awareness
  • Interfaces with Engineering and Operations to ensure the transfer of new products into Production are in accordance with approved data
  • Supports the Quality Inspectors to ensure products and processes comply with requirements of the Quality Management System
  • Conducts audits, prepares/closes out audit findings, creates audit finding reports and determines proper corrective and preventive actions
  • Analyzes failures and performs corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints
  • Plans, organizes and manages the overall activities of receiving/outgoing quality functions
  • Manages supplier performance and conducts audits
  • Continuously improves the Quality Department’s receiving inspection processes and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 3 years’ minimum experience (2 years of automotive preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Technical knowledge of Quality Management Systems, auditing, quality systems development, TS16949 certification, APQP, SPC and Lean manufacturing principles/techniques
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Computer expertise including software programs
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight as necessary
