Maintenance Mechanic 

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic performs routine repairs and preventative maintenance on machines and auxiliary equipment. This position resolves problems with equipment manufacturers and repair personnel, as well as installs and modifies equipment as required.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Performs necessary performance maintenance and conducts regular safety checks on all equipment.
  • Arranges authorized machine repairs on a scheduled basis, while minimizing downtime.
  • Maintains logs of reported problems, pending repairs and work performed.
  • Reviews repair requests and foreman’s log information regarding machine problems from shift foremen. Performs or schedules necessary work.
  • Meets with production and technical supervisors weekly to create plans, implement repairs and order spare parts.
  • Maintains and implements maintenance support for the company.
  • Recommends purchases for maintenance parts and equipment with suppliers, but does not have purchasing authority.
  • Coordinates machine and computer repair and preventative maintenance, and acts as the main maintenance contact with suppliers.
  • Installs wires and de-bugs electronic switches, pickers and PLCs as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Technical school training in Electronics
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical/electrical/hydraulics repair, or holds a valid journeyman or apprentice card
  • Ability to read, write and speak English

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with electricity hydraulics & electronics, injection molding machinery and a mechanical aptitude
  • Computer skills
  • Good diagnosis and problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed directions
  • Ability to complete internal trainings: training seminar in Hydraulics, Electronics training seminar, PLC seminar
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Able to work with a diverse group of people
  • Strong team player, friendly, patient
