Career Opportunity | Automation Technician Apprentice

PMT’s Apprenticeship Program offers a unique opportunity to gain paid, hands-on work experience while attending an accredited learning program. The Automation Technician Apprenticeship is a 2-year program that allows you to spend time learning on PMT’s production floor while gaining theory knowledge in the classroom. Upon completion of the 2-year program, you will receive a Certificate of Apprenticeship Completion from the U.S. Department of Labor, an industry-issued nationally recognized credential that certifies your occupational proficiency.

Responsibilities and Duties

Automation technicians perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, isolate problems and perform repairs. These technicians troubleshoot, service and fix the computerized systems and robotic devices that are designed to reduce human interaction, such as robotic assembly and computer-controlled devices. They design and assemble components, test products in development, make improvements and evaluate finished products. Automation technicians also apply their knowledge of engineering to solve technical problems and maintain automated mechanical equipment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Candidate must be eligible to work in the US permanently
  • High school diploma or equivalency diploma (GED)
  • High school GPA 3.5 or above
  • Algebra and Geometry or 2 units equivalent of academic math
  • High school level physics
  • Must be 18 years of age by the 1st of November 2017
  • If offered a position the candidate must be willing to enroll, and meet entry requirements for school
